Anne reads a notice about the school arts festival concert, and Liu Xiaoxue tells her who is performing.

小雪，你看这个通知：“学校艺术节，周五晚上七点有学生演唱，还有钢琴节目，欢迎大家来观看。”
Xiaoxue, look at this notice: “School arts festival: student singing and a piano performance on Friday at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and watch.”

Walking home after the concert, Anne and Liu Xiaoxue praise the singer and Bai Jiayue's playing.

安妮Anne
太精彩了！那个女生的歌声真美，我听得很感动。
Fantastic! That girl's voice was beautiful; it really moved me.

白家月也弹得很棒，最后那首特别难，她一点儿也没弹错。
Bai Jiayue played brilliantly too. The last piece was really hard, and she didn't play a single wrong note.

She plays the piano so well and she's a good student too. She's really capable.

That's because she practices for two hours every day.

So that's the secret. I'd like to learn the piano too; I wonder if it's too late to start.

Go and ask the music teacher. She teaches piano.
Anne asks the music teacher whether she is too old to start the piano and how much she should practice.

老师，我想学弹钢琴，可是我已经二十多岁了，现在学是不是太晚了？
Excuse me, I want to learn the piano, but I'm already in my twenties. Is it too late to learn now?

一点儿也不晚。学琴不怕晚，就怕不坚持。
Not at all. With the piano, starting late isn't the problem; not keeping at it is.
安妮Anne
可是我没有钢琴，怎么练呢？
But I don't have a piano. How can I practice?

学校的音乐教室里有琴，每天下午都可以去练。
There are pianos in the school music room. You can go and practice every afternoon.
安妮Anne
那您觉得我每天练多长时间比较好？
Then how long do you think I should practice each day?

刚开始，每天半个小时就够了。坚持一年，你就能弹简单的歌了。
At the start, half an hour a day is enough. Keep it up for a year and you'll be able to play simple songs.

好，那我下星期就来上第一节课。
Great, then I'll come for my first lesson next week.
In a bookshop, Li Wen and Liu Ming find that an author of a book on Chinese music has come to meet his readers.
