Anne tells Teacher Wang she cannot find her passport, and she explains how to contact her embassy.
安妮Anne
王老师，我的护照找不到了，我已经找了一个上午了。
Teacher Wang, I can't find my passport. I've been looking for it all morning.
王老师Teacher Wang
别着急。你先联系使馆，告诉他们你的情况，他们会帮你办一个新的。
Don't worry. First contact your embassy and tell them what happened; they'll help you get a new one.

Thank you. I'm going home next month. Can a new passport be ready before then?
王老师Teacher Wang
一般两三个星期就可以。不过你得快点儿，别错过了回国的飞机。
It usually takes two or three weeks. But you'd better hurry, or you'll miss your flight home.
Liu Xiaoxue invites Anne to an exchange meeting for Chinese and international students, and they agree how to use both languages.
刘小雪Liu Xiaoxue
安妮，周六学校有个中国学生和外国学生的交流会，你来参加吧。
Anne, on Saturday the school is holding an exchange meeting for Chinese and international students. Come along.
安妮Anne
我想去，可是我汉语说得不好，怕跟别人交流有问题。
I'd like to, but my spoken Chinese isn't good. I'm afraid I'll have trouble talking with people.
刘小雪Liu Xiaoxue
别担心，来的中国学生都想练习英语，他们也怕说错。
Don't worry. The Chinese students coming all want to practice English, and they're afraid of making mistakes too.
安妮Anne
那我们说汉语还是说英语？
So do we speak Chinese or English?
刘小雪Liu Xiaoxue
一半时间说汉语，一半时间说英语，大家互相帮助。
Half the time Chinese and half the time English, and everyone helps each other.
安妮Anne
这个办法很适合我们。那我也叫上几个留学生朋友。
That idea suits us well. Then I'll bring a few international student friends along too.
Liu Ming asks a new international classmate, who arrived three months ago, how she is settling in and notices her coat is too thin.
刘明Liu Ming
你来中国三个多月了，都适应了吧？
You've been in China over three months now. You must be used to everything?
新同学New classmate
吃的、住的都适应了，就是天气还不太适应。北京的冬天太冷了，风也大。
I've got used to the food and housing; it's just the weather I'm not quite used to. Beijing winters are so cold, and windy too.
刘明Liu Ming
我看你穿的这件衣服不够厚，不适合北京的冬天。
I don't think the coat you're wearing is thick enough; it's not right for a Beijing winter.
新同学New classmate
这是我从家里带来的，在我们那儿已经很暖和了。
I brought it from home. Where I'm from, it's plenty warm.
刘明Liu Ming
这儿可不一样。周末我带你去买一件厚的吧，我知道一家店，又便宜又好。
It's different here. Let me take you to buy a thick one at the weekend; I know a shop that's cheap and good.
新同学New classmate
太好了。有你帮忙，我一定很快就能适应。
Great. With your help, I'm sure I'll get used to it soon.
Li Wen tells Liu Ming he missed the scholarship deadline, and Liu Ming encourages him to face it and find another chance.
李文Li Wen
刘明，我完了，我错过了申请奖学金的时间，昨天是最后一天。
Liu Ming, I'm done for. I missed the scholarship application deadline; yesterday was the last day.
刘明Liu Ming
怎么会这样？你不是早就准备好了吗？
How did that happen? Weren't you ready ages ago?
李文Li Wen
我以为是这个星期五，把日期看错了。
I thought it was this Friday. I misread the date.
刘明Liu Ming
别难过了，事情已经这样了，只能面对。你先联系一下学院，问问还有没有别的机会。
Don't be upset. What's done is done; you just have to face it. Contact the college first and ask if there's another chance.
李文Li Wen
我刚才打电话问了，他们说下学期还可以申请一次。
I just phoned and asked. They said I can apply once more next term.
