Terms of Service
The short version
- You own what you create in Kalabi. You let us store and process it only to run the service for you.
- AI answers can be wrong. Check anything important before relying on it.
- Use Kalabi lawfully and respectfully, and keep your account secure.
- Keep your own copies of important work. Kalabi is provided as it is, within the limits the law allows.
- You can stop using Kalabi and delete your account at any time.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Kalabi (“we”, “us”) for your use of the Kalabi website at kalabi.ai, our apps and related services (together, “Kalabi”). By creating an account or using Kalabi, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information. If you don't agree, please don't use Kalabi.
Who can use Kalabi
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services without parental consent where you live, if that is higher. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these terms. If you use Kalabi on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these terms for it.
Your account
- Give accurate information and keep your email address up to date.
- Keep your password and devices secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Tell us at kalabiapp@protonmail.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
Your content
You own your content. Documents, notes, vocabulary and anything else you create or upload remain yours.
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, sync, process and display your content only as needed to provide, secure and improve Kalabi for you, including sending it to AI providers when you use AI features. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups that expire on their own schedule and content you have shared with others.
You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights to use it. When you publish or share content by link, anyone with the link can see it.
AI features
Kalabi uses third-party AI models for explanations, translations, chat and other features. We label these features in the app so you know when you are interacting with AI. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate or inappropriate, and it may resemble content produced for other people.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and we use our AI providers' business services, which process your requests to return a response.
- Check AI output before relying on it, especially for exams, translation of important documents or professional use.
- AI output is not professional, legal, medical or financial advice.
- Don't use AI features to generate content that breaks the law or these terms, and don't submit information you are not allowed to share.
As between you and us, you may use the AI output you receive, subject to these terms and applicable law.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
- upload malware, or harass, threaten or harm others;
- try to access accounts, systems or data that aren't yours, or probe, scan or disrupt Kalabi;
- scrape Kalabi, use it to build a competing product, or overload it with automated requests;
- resell or share access to Kalabi without our permission;
- get around usage limits, plan restrictions or security measures.
Connected apps and services
You can connect Kalabi to companion apps and AI assistants, such as the Kalabi iPhone app or Kalabi Coaching. Each connection receives only the access you approve and can be revoked at any time. Third-party services, including Google sign-in and AI assistants you connect, are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
Kalabi's content and software
Kalabi's software, design, brand and the learning materials we provide, such as courses and curated content, belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them through Kalabi for your own learning. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Plans and payments
Some features may be offered in paid plans. If you buy one, the price, billing period and renewal terms shown at purchase apply, along with any additional terms presented then. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, online and as easily as you signed up, and cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Where the law requires it, we will remind you before a renewal. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refundable. We may change plan prices or features with advance notice, and changes apply from your next billing period.
Availability and your data
We work to keep Kalabi available and your work safe, but we may change, suspend or remove features, and there may be interruptions. Some features may be labelled as beta and may change or be removed.
Kalabi is local-first. Work saved only on a device can be lost if you clear your browser data or remove the app before it syncs. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Ending your use
You can stop using Kalabi at any time and delete your account in Settings → Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or to protect Kalabi or other people. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to save a copy of your content. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as ownership, disclaimers and limitation of liability, continue to apply.
Disclaimers
Kalabi is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We don't promise that Kalabi will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will help you reach a particular learning result or exam score.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities. Our total liability for any claim relating to Kalabi is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from claims by others caused by your content or by your breach of these terms. This does not apply to consumers where local law does not permit it.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, please contact us at kalabiapp@protonmail.com first so we can try to resolve it informally. If we can't resolve it within 30 days, either of us may pursue the dispute through the courts or other channels available under applicable law.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will revise the date at the top, and for material changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Kalabi after changes take effect, the updated terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using Kalabi and delete your account.
General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Kalabi. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms without our consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
