把bǎ brings the thing you act on in front of the verb, so the sentence can end with where it goes. The pattern is subject + 把bǎ + thing + verb + 在zài or 到dào + place: 我把名字写在这儿wǒ bǎ míngzi xiě zài zhèr. 在zài says where something stays, and 到dào says where it ends up after moving: 我把书拿到你的房间wǒ bǎ shū ná dào nǐ de fángjiān. The thing after 把bǎ must be known to both people, such as 我的书wǒ de shū or 这个包zhège bāo, not 一本书yì běn shū. Key constraint: the place word is needed, and the verb cannot stand alone. A common mistake is to put the place before the verb as in English: ✗ 我把写名字在这儿wǒ bǎ xiě míngzi zài zhèr, ✓ 我把名字写在这儿wǒ bǎ míngzi xiě zài zhèr. Compare 我在这儿写名字 (I write my name here, the action takes place here) with 我把名字写在这儿I write the name onto this spot.
主语+把+宾语1+动词(+给)+宾语2
把bǎ + thing + verb + 给gěi + person says what you give, tell or send to someone.
Give it to someone
The receiver comes after the verb.
The staff member asks 请把护照给我qǐng bǎ hùzhào gěi wǒ and later 请把它告诉我qǐng bǎ tā gàosu wǒ.

Yixue asked Annie to write her name in the notebook.
With verbs of giving, telling or sending, 把bǎ lets you put the thing first and the receiver last: subject + 把bǎ + thing + verb + 给gěi + person. 请把护照给我qǐng bǎ hùzhào gěi wǒ is please give me your passport. With 告诉gàosu there is no 给gěi: 把号码告诉我bǎ hàomǎ gàosu wǒ. With 送sòng and 借jiè, 给gěi comes after the verb: 把书借给我bǎ shū jiè gěi wǒ, 把花送给她bǎ huā sòng gěi tā. It is used when the thing is known and the speaker wants it passed on. Key constraint: the thing after
主语+把+宾语+动词+结果补语/趋向补语/状态补语
把bǎ + thing + verb + a result, direction or state: 把名字写短了bǎ míngzi xiě duǎn le.
What happened to it
The verb is followed by a result, a direction or a state.
The staff member says 您把名字写短了nín bǎ míngzi xiě duǎn le: the result is 短duǎn.

After 把bǎ the verb needs something more: a result such as 好hǎo or 短duǎn, a direction such as 出来chūlái or 进去jìnqù, or a state with 得de. 我把护照拿出来了wǒ bǎ hùzhào ná chūlái le is I took my passport out. 她把名字写短了tā bǎ míngzi xiě duǎn le is she wrote the name too short. 他把字写得很大tā bǎ zì xiě de hěn dà describes how. The thing is definite, and the result tells what happened to it. In the negative, 没méi or 不要búyào goes before 把bǎ, not before the verb:
The card is ready. Your phone will now receive a code number. Please tell it to me.
Why it matters · 把它告诉我bǎ tā gàosu wǒ: 它tā is the number that just arrived.
You wrote the name too short. The name on your passport is longer than this.
