Liu Xiaoxue's group surveys the breakfasts of all fifty classmates. You will plan the survey and divide it into two parts, count the returned forms, tell the teacher that all of them are back, and describe what most classmates eat and what a few of them skip.

Teacher Wang has asked every group to do a survey. Liu Xiaoxue and Anne choose classmates' breakfasts as their topic and plan who to ask and how to arrange the questions.

王老师让每个小组做一个调查。我们组调查同学们的早餐，你觉得怎么样？
Teacher Wang wants each group to do a survey. How about our group surveys classmates' breakfasts?
安妮Anne
好啊。那问多少人？人数太少，数字就没什么用。
Good idea. How many people should we ask? If too few people answer, the figures aren't much use.

In two parts: the first asks what people eat for breakfast, the second asks when and where they eat it.

Okay, I'll make the survey form and hand it out in class tomorrow.
The forms come back. Li Wen and Liu Ming each count them, get different numbers, and count again together.

How many survey forms have come back? Have you counted them?
刘明Liu Ming
数过了，四十八份。有两个同学今天没来上课。
Yes, forty-eight. Two classmates weren't in class today.
李文Li Wen
我刚才数的是四十七份，是不是我数错了？
I counted forty-seven just now. Did I count wrong?
刘明Liu Ming
我们一张一张地再数一遍。
Let's count them again one by one.

You're right, it's forty-eight. The number is correct.

那两个同学的表，明天我去找他们要。
I'll go and get the forms from those two tomorrow.
Teacher Wang asks Liu Ming whether all fifty forms are in and suggests how the group can sort the figures faster.
王老师Teacher Wang
刘明，你们组的调查表全部收回来了吗？
Liu Ming, are all your group's survey forms back?
刘明Liu Ming
全部收回来了。昨天还差两份，今天也交上来了，一共五十份。
All of them. Two were still missing yesterday, but they were handed in today, so fifty in all.
王老师Teacher Wang
很好。数字整理好了吗？
Good. Have you organized the figures?
刘明Liu Ming
还没有。表太多了，我们还在一份一份地看。
Not yet. There are a lot of forms; we're still going through them one by one.
王老师Teacher Wang
你们四个人可以分一下：两个人一组，一组看表，一组记数字，这样快一点儿。
The four of you could split the work into pairs: one pair reads the forms and the other writes down the figures. That's faster.
刘明Liu Ming
这个办法好，我们今天晚上就开始。
Good idea. We'll start tonight.
Anne and Liu Xiaoxue have finished organizing the figures and go through what their fifty classmates eat for breakfast.
安妮Anne
终于整理完了！整理这些数字花了我们大量的时间。
Finally done! These figures took us a huge amount of time.
刘小雪Liu Xiaoxue
是啊。你看，多数同学早餐吃面包，有二十八个人。
They did. Look, most classmates have bread for breakfast: twenty-eight people.
安妮Anne
吃馒头的有十二个。吃面和别的东西的是少数，只有六个。
Twelve have steamed buns. Those who have noodles or something else are a small minority, only six.
刘小雪Liu Xiaoxue
那还有四个人呢？
What about the other four?
安妮Anne
他们不吃早餐，早上只喝少量的水就去上课了。
They skip breakfast. They just drink a little water and go to class.

为什么不吃呢？
Why don't they eat?
安妮Anne
四个人都说早上起得太晚，来不及吃。
All four said they get up too late and have no time to eat.

不吃早餐对身体不好，这一点我们要好好写一写。
Skipping breakfast is bad for your health. We need to write about this point properly.
